Principal’s Message

Welcome to Saint Gabriel Catholic School.  I am very excited to be working at Saint Gabriel as the school enters into its 131st  year of operation.  It’s because of its dedicated community and loyal alumni that the school has remained educationally vibrant and productive for so many years.  Today, community and alumni spirit remains alive and supportive as before.  This, along with a dedicated faculty and staff will allow Saint Gabriel to remain an educational icon in Chicago for many years to come.

At Saint Gabriel, we educate the whole child: mentally, physically and spiritually.  In our Preschool through Eighth grade classes, children are engaged in academically challenging curricula.  Highlights include the SuperKids Primary Reading Program in the early childhood classrooms, challenging math and language arts programs in the elementary grades and an inquiry based science program with lab in the middle school.  Also in middle school, students are equipped with laptop computers.  Additionally, we have a writing portfolio initiative implemented throughout all grades.

To balance the academics, Saint Gabriel offers drama, Spanish, art, computer and music classes.  It also offers a first class athletic program consisting of football, cheerleading, basketball, volleyball, baseball, and girls softball.  Students also take advantage of a number of non-athletic extracurricular activities such as chess club, band and student council.

Interwoven throughout the coursework and extracurriculars is Saint Gabriel’s commitment to the Catholic faith.  In addition to celebrating weekly school mass, school days are filled with many spiritual activities, prayers, and devotional moments that are designed to foster and strengthen the students’ faith.  Moreover, respect and camaraderie are nurtured in all that we do.
