St Gabriel Athletic Association….Providing Christian Values Through Participation In Sports
As an extension of Saint Gabriel Catholic School, the St. Gabriel Athletic Association exists to supplement the Christian values being taught to the children of St. Gabriel through participation in sports. In conjunction with the parents and coaches, we strive to provide participants the best possible instruction and resources to ensure a safe environment for all the children to confidently participate in sports. Participation in sports promotes student development and social ties among the students, parents, and parish. It can also be a positive outlet for your child. The benefits of this can have a positive effect on a student’s academic achievement, and enhance their overall St. Gabriel Shamrock experience.
Our objectives are to provide children an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of each sport, and further refine their athletic skills to prepare them to compete in grade school and beyond. Our additional objectives include the following:
- Develop sportsmanship
- Develop friendships
- Experience being part of a team
- Foster school spirit
- Build self-confidence
- Maintain good health
- Enhance Catholic values and teachings
Sports we currently offer include the following: football, cheerleading, basketball, volleyball, baseball, and softball.
We encourage parents and children to be part of the St. Gabriel Shamrock experience as well. Parent volunteers offer a huge resource and support base for our school and sports programs, while showing the children the importance of participating in a faith-based community like St. Gabriel Parish.
If you would like to coach or volunteer please contact Principal Ted Morgan at 773-268-6636 or any member of the St. Gabriel Athletic Association. We look forward to hearing from you.
