St. Gabriel’s is a Catholic elementary school with a rich traditional base, providing quality education for children from their pre-school years through eighth grade. The School has been in existence for over 125 years, opening in September 1881. Since its opening, St. Gabriel has provided a “first class” education for its students due the school’s strong commitment to learning and faith development of its students. St. Gabriel students continue to rank above average in standardized tests and are accepted at many of the top ranked high schools in Chicago and top ranked universities throughout the country. St. Gabriel School is dedicated to offering a curriculum that appropriately speaks to the developmental needs of each child. Small class sizes enable students to obtain individualized instruction. The school sets high standards for all its students, ensuring every student succeeds. St. Gabriel’s current curriculum includes: Language Arts, Science, Math, Physical Education, Religion, Social Science, Fine Arts and Spanish. In addition to its strong academic program, St. Gabriel Catholic Elementary School offers an outstanding athletic program for its students. The student athletes participate on winning teams in football, basketball, baseball, volleyball and cheerleading.
St. Gabriel Elementary School is devoted to the development of the whole child. Students participate in a health and wellness classes, weekly school masses, and a variety of enrichment clubs including, Science, Chess, Art, Music and Drama. All students have access to the computer lab and Internet services in their individual classrooms. St. Gabriel teachers are State certified and the curricula meet all State and Archdiocesan standards. St. Gabriel is accredited by both the Archdiocese of Chicago and the State of Illinois.
