St. Gabriel Youth Group Visits The Shrine of Christ’s Passion
On Nov. 3rd, members of the St. Gabriel Youth Group traveled to St. John, Indiana to visit The Shrine of Christ’s Passion. The group prayerfully walked outside on a half-mile winding pathway that was lined with the stations of the Cross. The event helped the teens to experience the Passion of Christ as they visited each of the stations. There were 40 life size bronze statues that showed the deep emotion and pain that Jesus suffered for us. The stations ended with Jesus’ Resurrection and Ascension into heaven. After the visit to the Shrine, the group visited the large (3 story tall) statue of the Blessed Mother that was commissioned for the Millennium and has been viewed by thousands of Catholics all through Chicago. Its permanent home is now located right next to the Shrine. This was a powerful religious experience for the Youth – one teen even expressed being moved to tears by the visit. If anyone wants to join our group (in grades 8-12), please contact Fr. Rich, the moderator, at 773-268-9595.
