I am writing to ask for your help with our next Youth Group event – our annual Blood Drive on Saturday, March 30th in the school hall. Next weekend, March 23-24, I would like to have some Youth Group members at each of the three weekend Masses, who could invite parishioners when they walk into Church to sign up for an appointment time to donate blood. The sign- up sheets for those giving blood will be in the back of Church. If you would like to help, you would need to arrive at Church 15 minutes before the Mass. The Mass times are: Saturday, March 23 – 4:30 p.m., Sunday, March 24 – 9:00 & 11:00 a.m. If you would like to volunteer for this, e-mail me with your name and phone number.
Also, I need a number of Youth Group members to sign-up to help on the day of the blood drive. The time for people to donate blood will be from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. You can sign up to volunteer for as many hours as you want, but I am putting together a schedule of two-hour time slots for the teens to volunteer. Your tasks will be assigned that day, when you arrive in the hall. If you can commit to volunteering, please let me know what time slot you would like to work.
The first time slot will be from 7:15 – 9:15 a.m. One of your responsibilities will be to rearrange the hall (moving tables and chairs) the exact way that the Blood Drive organizers want it to look. The more volunteers I have for that, the better! The second time slot will be from 9:15 – 11:15 a.m. The third time slot will be from 11:15 a.m. until the conclusion. The last blood donor should be finished around 1:40 p.m., and then we will need to put the tables and chairs back to the way they were before the Blood Drive started. Also, anyone who is 16, and has the permission of a parent/guardian – can donate blood. So, if you are old enough, please consider donating blood on that day. We will have permission forms available in Church the weekend of March 23-24. Also, invite your parents and older siblings to donate blood.
7th and 8th graders from St. Gabriel School have already distributed flyers about the Blood Drive throughout Canaryville, and for that, I am grateful! I know I can count on all of you to assist with the Blood Drive. Please let me know soon how you can help.
