St. Gabriel Youth Group/Students From Bridgeport Catholic Academy Volunteer To Feed The Hungry
On Saturday, November 10th, members of the St. Gabriel Youth Group, as well as students from Bridgeport Catholic Academy, travelled to St. James Parish (29th & Wabash) and volunteered to help distribute food to the needy. Many people come to St. James for food assistance each month and this is the 10th year that we have been involved in their program. The teens helped with many tasks on a bitterly cold day such as unloading the food from the Greater Chicago Food Depository truck, placing food into plastic bags, distributing various food items to people, helping to carry boxes of food for many of the elderly, and assisting with the clean-up. Hundreds of needy people received food that day. We are so proud of our youth!

Our next Youth Group event will take place on Sunday, December 9th. I am asking all of you to attend the 11:00 a.m. Mass that day, and immediately following Mass, we will bring all of the donated items in Church over to school – where we will put together Christmas Care Packages for military from our neighborhood. You are welcome to bring family and friends to this event. It’s always a lot of fun, and the soldiers enjoy being remembered at Christmas. We will have pizza and pop, also! Please save the date!
