St. Gabriel Youth Group Feeds The Hungry At St. Malachy
On Saturday, September 8th, members of the St. Gabriel Youth Group travelled to St. Malachy Catholic Church (just a few blocks from the United Center) and helped to feed the hungry. St. Malachy has been feeding the hungry for over 40 years! The program is organized by the Missionaries of Charity, which is the religious order of nuns founded by St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta. This is the third year our group has volunteered there. We did a variety of tasks including organizing clothing, preparing the food, serving the food, and cleaning up. Our youth and adults had a wonderful opportunity to interact with the guests, who were happy to see young people volunteering that day! Everyone felt great that we had a chance to help very needy people, including many who were homeless. As Jesus said – “As long as you did it to one of these least ones, you did it to me!” Our motto is “Making A Difference”, and we accomplish that through monthly Christian service projects to those in need.
Those who participated included: Lorueen Allen, Sara Galey, Edith Lopez, Samantha Falk, Kyle Strong, Andrew Kappel, Patrick McManus, Nora McManus, Hannah Hayes, Matt Fogarty, Josh Lagomasini, Luis Chavez, Jack Scanlon, Anna Goga, Kalie Trentz, Nick McCarthy, Caitlin Vohasek, Hardy Johnson, Jean Johnson, Char Galey, and Fr. Rich Creagh (moderator).                              Fr. Rich
