On June 14th the 11th Ward, the Chicago Fire Department, the Chicago Police Department, and the South Loop Chamber of Commerce, will be hosting the 11th Annual Flag Day Ceremony. It will be located at 4500 S. Halsted beginning at 10:00 a.m. Please bring any tattered American, Chicago, P.O.W. and M.I.A. flags for proper disposal. As a new addition to this annual ceremony, we are seeking donations from local businesses to replace all American flags at the public venues throughout our ward including all schools, libraries, police stations, firehouses, and parks. Everyone is invited to attend this event to celebrate Flag Day with the proper disposal of these flags.

11th Ward Community Paint Day

Please join Commissioner Daley and Alderman Thompson for a community paint day this Saturday, June 16th. If you would like to participate in this event please follow this link to register:  http://signup.com/go/VYjqCWE Volunteers will be meeting at 40th and Wallace to help paint the Veteran’s Mural on the viaduct. Please dress appropriately for painting. Paint is permanent exterior latex and will stain clothes. No Flip-flops or sandals, please. Scarves, hats or head covering is recommended. This is not a “drop-off” activity, parents must stay with children. All ages are welcome. Please meet and sign in for your shift at the welcome table just south of the viaduct on 40th and Wallace on the east side of the street. Paint, brushes, and water will be provided.
