I hope everyone had a great beginning to the new year, and I am sure you are enjoying your Christmas break! I am writing to remind all of the Youth Group members that our next event will be our annual trip to the Jessie Brown Veterans Hospital. It will take place on Saturday, January 20th. It is open to youth, as well as adults. Please let me know if you will be attending that day. For those going, you are asked to be at the school hall at 8:15 a.m. We will be at the hospital from 9-11 a.m. On that date, we will be loading up all of the leftover items from our Christmas Care Project for the military, and distributing them to the veterans. The veterans are always grateful to receive the various gifts. We will be visiting with the sick veterans in their hospital rooms. We generally visit in groups of 5 or 6. It is so important to cheer them up and personally thank them for all that they have done in service to our country! Visiting the sick is one of the Catholic Church’s corporal works of mercy, and I can guarantee that you will feel spiritually uplifted by this experience! I also need some parent drivers that day, so please consider asking one of your parents to assist us. Tell your friends they are welcome to join us. If you have any questions, just ask.
I want you to know that you are making a big difference in the lives of the people that we minister to through our service projects! It makes me feel very happy to see so many of our youth (and adults) working side by side to help those in need! God bless you, and I am so proud of all of you!
